Not less than 40 sergeants promoted to Inspector cadre at Western Port Authority Police Command, recently.
The immediate past Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali had on 14th April, 2023, approved the promotion of about 21,039 police officers at the Western Police port command and across the nation.
The deserved promotion saw about 40 junior officers promoted at the Western Port Authority command.
The beneficiaries of the promotion include 20,572 Sergeants who were promoted to the next rank of Inspector, 324 Corporals to sergeants and 143 Constables to the rank of Corporal nationwide.
In a statement by Spokesperson of the Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, the exercise was aimed at improving the welfare, condition of service and the boosting of morale of the personnel to reposition the force for efficiency.
The statement read in part, “The Inspector-General of Police, while commending the newly promoted officers for their resilience and invaluable commitment to duties, charged them to see their promotion as a call for renewed zeal, vigour, patriotism to duty, and further re-dedication to professional policing standards.
